.....the guy i got the car it was in from told me it was a 70s motor out of a ford truck.......guess he was wrong......it has a mechanical fuel pump and 2 dipsticks one in timing cover and other in oil pan....is this common or is this a mix of different gen motor parts?

Sounds like a mix match of parts. If you know it has xxx in the lifter valley, then does the lifter valley have the provisions drilled for the spider tray.

it has the spider tray and dog bones in it......me and a guy got in an argument about roller motors a few days ago he said if it had the holes drilled for the tray then it is a roller motor even if it doesnt have the roller cam or lifters.....but the way i see it thats what makes it a roller is the cam and lifters and without those is just anoter motor thas capable of being a roller motor....i may be wrong but thas how i see it

The roller engines.
Well - to be honest - all production 302 engine blocks since 1980 are the "thin wall" casting with open main bolt holes - and all are the weak link. 1985 saw the first roller production block - and some say they got weaker then as well because of the holes for the spider web.

Waste of money. Block cracks from the Mains then moves up through the cam tunnel.

IMO could help the bearings a little. But if the block is going to break it's going to regardless. At least it might hold it all together possibly break less parts.

Hello, my name is Rick from St. louis and was referred hear for engine questions and knowledge.
Im currently building a 94 Gt from the ground up. So far has 8 point cage, subframe connectors, torque box supports, moroso battery box, kirkey seats, upr air bag delete, rear seat delete.
Is comming out the paint shop hear in a week, painted 93 cobra Spec Vibrant Red w/ all keyholes and emblems shaved, 3" cowl, crab claw spoiler blah blah blah.
Main reason I was directed hear was my plan is to build a 408w and have more than a few questions about h/c/i combos, fitment of exhaust for a great street/strip combo. Looking for more torque than horsepower cause I want to win races, not be the best dyno queen.
