E5 heads compared to E7s
«

Bought some 351 parts to get a Duraspark distributor and a pair of E5 heads came with it,the E7 heads that came on the motor I have have some bolts broken off in them so I was wondering if they are similar to the E7s or should they be thrown on the scrap pile.

Other than combustion chamber size, they are pretty much the same.
The E6 heads are the ones to avoid.

You might need some Titanium rods and a flow bench!

The E5 heads look to have the same valve size as the early 70s heads,I knew there was a set made in the 80s to avoid but could not remember what ones.

Ditto, the 1986, smaller chamber and deeper dished piston, same 9:1 compression, E6 heads.

It looks like those E5AE heads have really large combustion chambers, after looking at those charts I should have put some E7 heads on the 70 302 I have to drop the compression some since it has around 9.5 and is almost too much for todays regular grade gas.
