I used the search feature but couldn't find results.
I'm sure this was asked before...

What are the head choices for a 351C?
I already have stock iron 4v open and a pair of iron 4v closed chamber heads. Both with "home porting" just cone shaped the valve guide posts and cleaned up the rough areas...

What aluminum heads are extremely affordable and flow better than stock iron 4V's ?
Also what are the chamber cc's available?
Thanks

This "extremely affordable" needs a definition

Very true.

4V Cleveland and affordable (much less, extremely affordable) aren't terms commonly associated with each other.

Ha Ha, You are right. I guess extremely affordable was the wrong thing to say.
Ok,
What aluminum heads are available for Cleveland engines that will use common 4V intake ports and common 4V exhaust ports? Please mention prices also.
I already have a Holley Strip Dom intake and Hooker 1 7/8" headers. I'm not going to buy a new intake or headers. I'm looking for heads that will out flow iron 4V heads.
Thanks

I would think there are a few inline heads with more useable flow than "untouched" 4v iron heads.

Ugly?  Easy now -- that's my baby and it's got lots of unique character!  When I drop that built 445" stroker in it you won't have any time to "pull over to let me pass" because I'll have already blown past you when you figure out what the hell was that loud noise behind you . . .

Ok, Thanks.I'll add more info...

I already have the Cleveland. I already have a Holley Strip Dom Intake for it and Hooker super comp headers that fit the car and the Cleveland heads. I'm interested in direct replacement Cleveland style heads with canted valves.
What aluminum Cleveland style heads are available and how much do they cost?
Thanks

Guess you can search eBay for c3 heads.  D3 heads are out now also.

You can get a pretty good estimate on cost.

If you have closed chamber 351C 4bbl heads, you'll need to get new valves with single groove keepers, and you'll need to have them machined for screw-in studs and guide plates.  Of course, then they will need new guides, the valves installed, milled, and all the standard 'rebuilding'.  They can be a killer head, but once you pay for all that, you're pretty close to buying an aftermarket set.

That being said, your Strip Dominator on top of a nice set of closed chamber 4bbl heads can be a killer setup!

Even still...   The exhaust port is horrendous and the bigger factor is weight.
Looking at my c3 heads next to iron 4v heads...   Huge difference in every aspect.

Running with iron 4v is still very cool in true ford fashion.

Thank you for the info. My iron heads (3 pairs) all have been machined for screw in 7/16" studs, all have stainless one grove valves etc. The engine ran very well. I have it apart for a refresh and thought about aluminum heads.
I'm finding they are expensive and don't really yield a huge hp difference. Not like on a Windsor when you swap the factory iron heads for some TFS heads. I was hoping it would be similar results on a Cleveland.
I'll keep my ported Cleveland heads. I can use the money elsewhere like suspension work, EFI, tires, ignition upgrades etc.

Thanks again for the comments but I'm all set now.

Spot on!  The closed chamber 4bbl head is the best small block factory head ever made!  It SO dominated all forms of racing, most sanctioning bodies either made them flat out illegal, or strapped tons of ridiculous rules on them to make the Chevies able to keep up.  The main problems with those heads, were the crappy valves and non-adjustable valvetrains...  which it sounds like you've got covered!

Get ready to have some fun with one of the most beautiful, and most powerful engines ever made!  One of those stroked to 408ci and your heads can be an absolute BEAST...   while still wearing factory heads!

Good Luck!
