NOSZle system on 408w, FAST EFI
«

Dear fellow ford enthusiasts,
I am on the road for Nitrous experience. My car, which is -66 Mustang with numerous modifications, basicly: 408w, 205AFR, SVictor, Fast 2.0 EFI, FTi cam, appr. 500 hp (alast dynode a while ago 480 fwhp)
I am installing a Noszle kit, which puts the extra fuel and Nitrous nozzle around and under the efi fuel injectors. (ANybody have experience on this?) The system will utilize the same fuel system (Magnafuel 275 as transfer pump to external sump tank, and A1000 to the motor 45 psi).
I have options to start the tune with 100hp, 175hp or 300hp. My idea is to utilize 175 hp, and stick with that. The car is muti purpose, sreet, track, drag... Idea is to bring some extra power on the 3rd and 4th gear on the dragraces (NOT ON THE STREET). The car has enough power already for circuit tracks, and slalom I am using it also.
This is the kit: ( It seems that it is no longer available...)
http://www.ecsautostores.com/nosdirectportefikit-08008.aspx
Any experience with Noszle system?
Could I get away going with 175 directly? (Goal is to manage with pump gas..)
Br,
Antti

If you already have the system, it is what it is. If you haven't bought it yet, I'd advise a good plate.
But, if you do have it:
- Like most NOS kits, the OTB tunes are garbage. It will be pig rich and need some work.
- NOS uses funnel jets, compression fittings, and older style tubing on their soft line systems. The jets are somewhat harder to come by and the tubing is more restrictive than the more modern tubing.
- Be careful cutting the tubing. Don't use scissors or cutters, use a sharp razor knife. Otherwise, the tubing is known for splitting.
- Be careful with the compression fittings. With poly tube and copper fittings, it is very easy to over tighten the ferrule and restrict flow. But if they aren't tight enough, they can blow out of the fittings.
This is why newer soft line systems use push-lock style fittings.
Due to the additional restrictions in soft line systems, common jet maps aren't of much use. And because of the additional restrictions of the older style NOS system, even the jet maps from newer soft line systems would only serve as a starting point.

You might need some Titanium rods and a flow bench!

Hello,
Thanks for advice.
-Attached you may see the chart they are proposing. The jets I have are: 32, 24, 18, 16 and 10 , so not much adjustability there... I am thinking it is rich, I could get away with pump gas with the 175 setup?
- Thanks for heads up on the tubing. I´ll try to be consistent. I am planning to make pressure test with pressure air, 8 bar (~120 psi)
-Distribution should be ok with this, but it lifts the Injector half inch higher, which might affect the spray pattern. Lets see.
-What would be nice 4150 plate, incase this does not work. In the 175 hp class? I could use the same solenoids and electrics.
What I have found in the internet is that this kit, with normal price is somewhat expensive, even 2k. I bought mine with 550$. I pulled the trigger since the product was in UK, so no additional customs costs/vat costs. Ebay.co.uk rules
Now it is a snow blizzard there, so I have plenty of time to make the tubing correctly .

Of yeah, those will be rich. Different jets are available, but needing 8 of each hurts $$$.
The solenoids are basic NOS Cheater solenoids. Each nitrous solenoid is good for 250-275 hp. Each fuel solenoid is good for probably 500+ hp at efi fuel pressures.
In the end, there are lots of good plates that would fit your needs if you decide to change in the future.
I don't think that there is anything inherently wrong with that system. It was just expensive to buy and expensive to tune.
Unless there is something in your combination that isn't nitrous friendly, 175 should be doable with the correct tune and timing.
In an effort to limit your trouble, I'd contact Steve Johnson at Induction Solutions. He is one of the smartest nitrous guys in the world and builds and sells soft line foggers. He also worked for NOS back in the day, so he may have some direct experience with this kit.

Dear sir,
We are a lot talking about reading plugs, but how does a modern AFR wide band work with nitrous? Does it show correctly what is happening?
I have FAST xfi 2.0 efi with quite good logging capabilities...

They can be helpful, but will not tell you as much as reading the plugs.
