3G alternator green/red stripe wire?
«

Which wire does the green/red stripe wire hook up to? Going from 2g alternator to 3g.
88 mustang 4 cylinder/auto, converted to 5.0/5speed.
TIA, Mike

The green/red wire is the same on 2G and 3G setups, it goes to the amp gauge or dummy light. This wire also activates the alternator from the ignition switch.
If the engine harness is damaged or missing, you can find it in the harness near the coil.

You might need some Titanium rods and a flow bench!

Thank you.....I'll search there.....It'll be the only wire with those colors?

Should be. It was the only one like it in my 92 four cylinder harness.

Thanks for the schematic, Scienceguy.
I had this in my 82 gt mustang, and recently swapped it out.
Couldn't find the green/red wire on this new chassis, and thought there was a different wire it hooked up to.
Still haven't found it yet.....will keep looking.

Opposed to the diagram, I prefer to run the yellow/white wire back to the starter solenoid or remote power point. Same as factory
That is the voltage sensing wire. Running it to the solenoid will ensure adequate voltage to the accessories.
Depending on the length and size of the charge wire, some cars may be more/less affected by it.
