My eccentric had a groove worn into it
Do you think this was caused by the fuel pump or by starting it up dry

I'm wondering if there is a way to check that the fuel pump has the proper movement
Thanks
Mike

thats an edelbrock. I am shocked there is a groove in that eccentric. These one piece are extremely hard to find right now as well. ford racing is the only supplier and they are on major backorder with quality control problems.

I was surprised when I saw it it's a thick heavy piece of steel
I don't know would starting the motor dry do that
When the guy called and said I needed one I tore into
An 69 351w I had and pulled it and brought that to him
Do you think there is something wrong with that fuel pump to cause that
And what pump would you recommend
Thanks

There are a few factory ones on ebay right now. The is also a listing for an FR piece for use with the 7/16 cam bolt, as well as a roller bearing version.

The only ford racing ones at this point on the secondary market are for 7/16 cam bolts. I am sure there is one 3/8 out there, but you gotta dig deep.

Thats more than likely a 1715 edelbrock pump, very good piece. Can you actuate the pump arm easily

A 428 CJ engine I rebuilt years ago had a 7/16" bolt.  I ground the 3/8" hole to fit, was harder then heck!  Took a while.

Son's Bullet cam in the 412 came with a 7/16" bolt so I made one out of 6061 alum. as didn't need an eccentric because I used an electric fuel pump.

I chucked one up in the lathe at work trying to drill the center hole out for a 7/16 bolt, and none of our drill bits would touch it.

Just tried to drill it with a screw just skated all over the place
Pump was strong but pulled another pump off my 289 and they seem about the same.
Had to say for sure but it seems that pump doesn't have as much travel.
And the arm is shaped a little different the other pump had a straight arm.
I'm not putting that pump back on.
Is a stock pump enough for a 331 solid roller
Thank
Again guys
