In a 1982 mustang. What would be the best route to take to switch to non power assist keeping the stock brakes at least for now.

Change the master cylinder to a non assist version and make sure the rod is the correct length.

While more expensive, Maximum Motorsports has the nicest kit(s) by far. They also have different master cylinders available and pre-made plumbing kits.

You might need some Titanium rods and a flow bench!  LMAO on floor

I honestly don't get it.

I'm sweating, my heart is racing, my clutch foot is twichin', and my right arm punched the computer screen doing an involentary 2-3 shift while reading all that.

I converted mine to wilwood.
You only need to know what your caliper piston sizes are so you can buy the correct master cylinder piston' size.

Ugly?  Easy now -- that's my baby and it's got lots of unique character!  When I drop that built 445" stroker in it you won't have any time to "pull over to let me pass" because I'll have already blown past you when you figure out what the hell was that loud noise behind you . . .

On our Buget Coupe a 91 mustang we used UPR adapter and a 1985 ranger mater cylinder from a ranger with manual disc brakes. We had to modify brake lines and take out the combination valve and install an adjustable pro portioning valve in the rear. Would recommend that factory brakes and lines are in top shape.

Thanks. The brakes are all new stainless lines included. Looks like Maximum Motorsports might be the one stop shop for this job.

The best thing I did when switching over was getting the MM brake pedal/arm.  That made a world of difference.

I originally used a MC out of an 85 SVO when I had the stock brakes.  Since switching to Aviator discs in the rear and Aerospace junk up front I used a 93 Cobra MC.  I have no stopping issues.

You have power brakes and want to switch to a non-assisted brake system while keeping your stock calipers etc.? If so, keep in mind that switching from power brakes to manual brakes involves pushing on the brake pedal harder than before or using leverage to exert power to the brakes. The firewall may not be built to handle the extra load associated with manual brakes. This is a problem I ran into while contemplating this very conversion.

I had a 66 Tempest and a 68 Road Runner both with manual drum brakes. It can't possibly be worse than ether of those.

Manual brakes were a factory option on Fox bodies, just not common.
