File this under FYI...I replaced the guideplates that came on my heads to get better rocker alignment. I used the comp cams adjustable ones. All went seemingly well as I have broken in the engine, survived glowing headers, etc. After I had warmed the engine and was setting the hot lash I noticed that one of the pushrods seemed to have a lot more room to move than the others. After I looked at and measured I could see that the pushrod slot was about an eighth of an inch wider than all the rest

Fortunately I had some extras as the original guideplates gave good alignment on a few. After examination of the one I took off I am guessing they sent me one for a larger pushrod engine. These are all individually packaged and then placed in the box so I would guess that someone put the wrong one in the wrong box.
Long story short I may be frustrated that they sent the wrong one and that I did not originally catch it but I am ecstatic that I caught it before I zinged it up to 7000 rpms.

Take this as a public service announcement reminding us not to assume that the parts we get are the right ones...
