I have a 79 T-Bird with a FMX transmission recently I lost reverse gear it just free wheels, at the same time my neutral position became Drive two but shutters severely when shifting, the Drive position is fine all three gears, Drive 2 no problem, Low gear works perfect.
Park Position works locking the Pawl, but feels like it may have a load on it as engine speed drops.
The linkage on the outside of the trans is working normally, I was told it maybe a bad rear reverse band but then learned the band controls both Low gear and reverse, and low gear is working perfectly.
I have not dropped the pan yet tooo Cold out here, Does anyone have any ideas about this?
My thoughts are the shift selector valve in the valve body maybe leaking pressure.
Any help or ideas would be appreciated.
