Found this pile on craigslist 4 long years ago when a guy i know who whores out mustangs like a junk pimp acquired it from a member on here (windsor death)...who had it set-up as a "road racer" and it had sat in his yard for a coupla years....now before we get started I DID NOT HAVE THIS CAR PAINTED lol............anyone that knows me is aware cosmetics arent high on the list, its actually a little to pretty for my taste but what the hell............it had no underhood wiring, front suspension, rear suspension and still had the 4cyl fuel lines.............i loaded up a old rear/arms/spring and complete kmember etc. and loaded it up.......

I then bought a used tube k member kit, had a "built" rear lying around a old junkyard 5.0 out of a mkvii i bought back in '99 some jy P heads, jy efi harness a complete $200 exhaust system, jy intake, broken t5 from my '89 etc. etc...............

i've actually had this turd running for a year but it had a badly busted windshield and i had no motivation to work on it until recently i just decided to get it running and hit the track.............i put 80 street miles on it before i went to make sure nothing would fall off and we were on our way...........

It didnt run half bad for a first time baseline...............passes are in order.......

7.71/.75/.82/.80 and i lost one out the window in the shutdown area......was a .75 lol
High mph was 87.35

Then we bolted on the ported upper............
7.66/.61/.65/.67/.64/.61.......had a 8.21, missed second, car launchs a little crazy and it threw me off lol
High mph was 88.54.............

Heading back up this sat barring weather with the ported lower on it along with 30lb inj, and pro-m 80 maf..............sunday i'll try and double down and throw the bullets on it...........maybe crank a few .50's out of it.........

David has a vid somewhere of one of the passes...............

Almost in the 11's with cheap parts that "don't work", good job.

Another impressive Mustang from Rodney.    Sounds like it has a good chance of getting even better with the intake and improving the 60ft.

The scary thing is your un-ported GT40P 302 combo will lay waste to half of the AFR165/TW170 combos on Corral. If my Thunderbird was about 1000lb lighter (then it would be the same weight as your car) the thing would MPH identical in the 1/8th mile.....

just out of shits and giggles I would love for someone from the good air parts of the world to come to some elevation and run. When someone like Rodney makes a pass like he does with the shit he runs, us with altitude wonder how far off we are. We see what happens when we head south with limited tuning time and gain 6 to 7 tenths. His car being mostly stock he would lose 1.2 seconds at Bandimere, this being true I'm right there with my tune.

I have a supercharged car and the rule of thumb here is 2# of boost to cover the power robbing charger and 2# to cover the baro  loss. thoughts

Even at sea level, average cars don't run like Rodney's. His cars have deep gearing, good tuning, and great driving. On top of that, they test and tune a lot.

I watch him make a pass in one of his cars, and I want to walk over and kick my car. His blue coupe makes me especially sick.

If you are basing your expectations off of his, its highly likely that you will be disappointed. They have their act together over there. Or maybe its just the silicate water.

Rodney's car is the perfect example of not needing cubic dollars, just a little common sense and effort. I helped a coworkers son years ago with his Mustang, the first thing I had him do was 4.10 gears, suspension, and tires. Second thing was a set of cleaned up stock heads(blended valve job/bowl cleanup) and explorer intake. His dad said it no way it would run 13's, well it ran 12.87 with over 100,000 miles on the clock!. Yes it had the normal bolt on's also. I wish more would follow Randy's lead before spending big bucks on aftermarket heads and etc only to be let down.  There is more to going fast then adding torque and hp.

with all respect Ray, my thought are why would any one at sea level want to tow their car anywhere it will go slower.

i feel a portion of your pain when my weather station says we are racing at over 6000 ft.  the solution is to tow our cars to lower elevations and enjoy.  houston and saint louis are both on my bucket list.

cheers, claude
