Hi all,
I have a 90 Mustang GT vert. And for some odd reason all of a sudden I having wiring smoking when the car is off. As soon as I connect the negative cable to the battery I have a black wire with an orange stripe that starts smoking. It has a blue 12 gage fuse link that attaches to the starter solenoid on the fender wall. I have traced every inch of the wiring and nothing is cut and grounded out that I see. When I unplug the the alternator plug with the two black wires with orange stripes it doesn't smoke but it has burned up an alternator already. I can turn the key on but the fuel pump doesn't come on. If anyone has had this issue and has some idea what it could be PLEASE give me some insight.

Thanks

If I had to guess, I'd say that the alternator failed first and damaged that dinky wire.

The bright side. Since you need a new alternator and wiring, its a great time to upgrade to a 3G.

Bottom line, if it was the hot ticket, the fast guys would do it.............they don't

You might need some Titanium rods and a flow bench!  LMAO on floor

I honestly don't get it.

I'm sweating, my heart is racing, my clutch foot is twichin', and my right arm punched the computer screen doing an involentary 2-3 shift while reading all that.
