MPH is HP/weight based. I am not sure how you can effectively measure torque on the dragstrip.
ET is the timed result of how efficiently you can put that power to the ground. It is the result of numerous variables above and beyond the discussion of just HP vs torque including unmeasurable things. This includes the chassis, RPM, lightweight rotational assemblies, wind resistance. and a host of other items.

LOL, so you are saying, with that analogy, a .45 with less than 1000 fps will not stop a guy as quickly as a .9mm with 1300 fps or more? Ok.....lol.
No, but if you shoot each slug with a sling shot, it would just really hurt.
And BTW, I didn't agree with his analogy either. Energy and acceleration are not the same.
At the time it made sense to me in my head but I now realize that I had that analogy backwards on paper.
And FYI I have a .45 Glock filled with hollow point bullets right next to my bed's pillow for home safety.
With a properly set-up ride (suspension, transmission, tires, gearing, etc) -- do you want 800 ft/lbs of torque at 3000 rpm, 4000 rpm, 5000 rpm or 6000 rpm?

.... the TORQUE vs HP conundrum......
Any situation, case, problem, viewed from a single variable perspective using a tunnel vision..... is simply useless.....specially in drag racing or any type of motorsport.
Torque is what any engine produces and gets directly measured however, at what RPM? This is where HP comes into place in order to understand and see the real behavior of any engine, performance potential and how to set everything else (drivetrain, exhaust, weight limitations/threshold, etc). For example...... lets say I want a 587 lb-ft peak engine setup. The most logical question would be..... at what RPM? For example, take a look at different 587 lb-ft engine setups at different RPM ranges below:
If TORQUE win races........ which would accelerate better?.... even though they all have the same torque curve?

SO...... torque equates to a 45 ACP and HP to a 9mm on the opposite side or "stopping power"?

Ugly? Easy now -- that's my baby and it's got lots of unique character! When I drop that built 445" stroker in it you won't have any time to "pull over to let me pass" because I'll have already blown past you when you figure out what the hell was that loud noise behind you . . .
