1985 block out of a 85 GT
GT-40's with the 3 bars on the outside casting (not sure how to ID exactly which heads they are)
f-303 cam
DUI HEI distributor with livewires
performer rpm intake
holley 650dp

I'm getting ready to begin working on putting everything together, any advice on making these parts work together? Milling the heads? valve job? recommended rocker ratio and pushrod lengh?

Get the heads checked out and resurfaced. If you have the money, a fresh valve job never hurts performance. Not sure what pistons are in that 85 block but Im thinking they are the flat top variety with no reliefs so plan on claying it up to check piston to valve clearence.

E5 piston is the same  as E7. Sell the f cam to a turbo guy and buy an nx274hr cam. mill the heads to 55cc chamber. Rpm intake is alright....but if it were mine i would sell it and grab a 7515 xcellerator.

You will have to fly cut your pistons to use that cam.  The F cam isn't as bad as most would have you think.  If you have it use it. We have two cars running an F cam.  One is a 302 bored .030 with GT-40P heads and a Victor Jr and it runs 11.90s in the 1/4.  The other is a stock bottom end with Trick flow 170 heads and Weiand Xcellerator intake and it runs 11.70s

I guess the main questions are what is the rest of the combo? And what are you trying to accomplish with it?

Its important to note that GT40 heads have a slightly shorter installed height on the exhaust than GT40P, E7s, and others. Not a issue, just keep it in mind when choosing parts.

if you plan on keeping the stock rockers, they will have radial clearance problems with many of the spring kits available. Again, not a real issue. They just limit spring options.
