I can say I did it all for my children, but; that is not entirely true. I have a type A personality, I have to compete to be happy. I enjoy the look on the faces of people who have never seen the car in the burnout box or seen us put it on the bumper. On a video with a 200' wheel stand a person pumping his fist in the stands surrounded by fans clapping their hands for our car is one of my favorites.

I love this sport and the people I have met while being involved in it.

Anybody want to buy a set of Gen 1 M/T radials 275 60 15 CHEAP, only 6 launches. I bought a set to run a 275 True Street class here that has a 100# penalty for running the 275 Pro. After 6 tries to get them to hook I put the old Pro's back on and added the 100# to the 144# I had already added to make weight and boom 1.26 60'.

Anybody know how to get those tires to hook?  Oh yeah, lost in 2nd round when Brett pedaled the car to get the front end down and then when he went into hi gear (glide) the front tires lifted again at about 150'. got beat 5.35 to our 5.53. @ 3125#

Another update from the track. We still have a problem but it is different now. We still go up on the bumper or blow the tires off most of the time with the radials. We tried a 300 shot at this last race, again. Q1 saw us blow the tires off. Q2 we loosened the suspension up a bit and guess where we went. Brett pedaled the car three times to bring the front end down and still ran a 5.80 @ 125 mph. Q3 was totally different. The car lifted the front, Brett blipped the throttle 1 time and stayed in it the rest of the way. 1.34 60' on the rear tire and a friend/observer sitting at the 330 cone said when the car went by him the front tires were still 12" off the track and they were not even turning. He thought Brett was going to carry them the entire track. The car went straight as a string on that pass, 5.50 @ 127. Good enough for #6 qualifier, out of 8 but we were not the slowest. This was our last radial race of the year. We are testing tomorrow on slicks for our final Carolina Grudge race in 3 weeks. $1000 to win put up by Shadyside Dragway. We have won 1 this year and I really want to win this one.

I shall again begin to re-construct and freshen what needs to be done for next year. I can't believe another year is almost gone.  Huh?

Yes, I do have limiters on the front. From blowing the tires off to standing the car up was an adjustment of 1/2" increase. That was from a 1/8" to 5/8" of travel. The next round I took out 1/8" out and added 22# to the front frame rails and blew the tires off again. I need a set of MUCH better DA shocks on the front of the car. 'bout $1700 worth from what I've seen.

And, today I got my new Nitrous Outlet Stinger race plate in. I don't have a clue what I'm going to do with more power but I'm going to learn!  Next spring. lol

We'll find out Sunday. We changed out the N2O system tonight and I hope I have a 120 shot made up from the jetting package they sent. So far the only thing I don't like is the jet selection they sent. I have 5 jets not even listed on their chart. I have a #150 jet!! According to their chart a #136 is 500HP.  I have never heard of a #150 jet.

We're running Carolina Grudge with a 5.79 cap and I hope I'm close.

Everything else looks really good. I'm going to call them tomorrow and see what I can do to get a couple of jets to make several of the recommended HP levels on the card.

The new Stinger plate takes the same jets as my old NX plate kit. According to the Stinger jet card their #62 jet is the N2O for a 150 shot. My NX kit list the #70 as a 150 shot. Our grudge tune with the NX was a #62N #52F and it ran a consistent 7.77 - 7.80 @ 120.7XX. I tried the #62N & #52F in the Stinger plate yesterday and it ran a 5.76/.77 @ 121.9. It's making a little more HP on top end so it apparently does have a better atomization in the intake. The plugs looked good and clean so he we go.

Oh yea, Brett broke out in the first round.

Last race of the season. Q1 was a joke. Wrong tire pressure gauge and too much air and blew the tires off on the hit. Q2 with the right gauge and  5.76 @ 121 mph. Round 1 the car rocked back when Brett went up on the t-brake and turned on the red light. He ran it out anyway and only ran a 6.40 @ 117. I wondered why untill Thursday night. I pulled the drain plug out of the transmission and found 3 pieces of splines and some metal chunks on the magnet. I have no idea where the metal came from but it's broke somewhere. I was told when I picked the transmission up 2 years ago it would last for 2 years before it needed to be freshened up. He was exactly right to the last pass. lol with tears

Motor has been taken to my machinest for disassembly so he could see how everything looked. We're going to step up the program a little more over the winter. We're shooting for 5.0's next year.  There will be some work done to the heads, new wrist pins for the Diamond pistons, a little more suspension work, and some new shocks.

Merry Christmas to everyone and I will start the story again in January. I can't believe that 2015 is just a couple of weeks away. Happy New Year

Bam, I need a break. Too much to fix and not enough time.  My work has picked up even more and I seriously don't know how I'm going to get everything done. I'm working two more people and need another truck & crew tomorrow.

I'm also jealous of your weather. Be safe and I hope we meet again next year.  Good Luck!

Report from trans shop: 1.69's are history. Chewed up 2 of the 4 planetary gears. Converter is back at RevMax to be checked and cleaned. New 1.80's and all new parts are installed in trans case. Should get it back Monday.

Report from machine shop: New lifters, new distributer gear needed, new cam here, but cannot be used. Bearings looked great after running them for 2 years. Motor had a good deal left in it for the amount of N2O we were using. More timing and more nitrous could be used by the looks of everything according the Mr. Heintz. Head studs will need more attention in the future. The MLS headgaskets had started to "walk" between the middle 2 cylinders on each side of the block. No leaks were found so again luck was on my side. New Hell-Fire rings will be installed again.

The cam has a .760  lift and would really need shaft rockers and bigger push rods to perform and last according to the engine builder at Heintz Automotive. This is not an option this year, just not enough cash in the fund.  Sucks being poor.  More to follow......

Finally, first race is next week. First two were re-scheduled because the track wasn't finished, then the next was rained out. Tested/broke-in the engine last weekend. 4 motor passes at partial throttle then a "grudge tune" pass. Final qualifying pass last year was a 5.81, first pass on spray this year, 5.81. Both @ 120 mph. We're ready again I think.

New ring pack for this year. Not Hell Fire rings but a different brand and ring material. The top ring is so hard I had to gap them with a side grinder and a cut-off wheel. A file will not scratch them. Mike Heintz said they were having a lot of success with them sealing very well and being very N2O friendly. Mike also suggested that I have the top of the pistons coated which of course I had him take care of. He was seeing a little color behind the top ring on the four corners due to heat from the nitrous.

All in all, long cold winter; I'm ready to race. By the way, Who all is coming to Pinks All Out Week @ Rockingham Dragway over the 4th of July?????
