AFR 225's that I had on the previous 402 we were running. The heads will be milled .004 to clean them up for the Cometic gaskets, they will also be sent to a local shop to have a CNC program run on them to remove just a touch in the combustion chambers to smooth out a hump/dip for the NOS application. Another engine shop has volunteered to do a "little" porting just to help out with some flow on the bigger stroker. The shop that is going to do the porting builds those motors that go around in circles all day long, I guess he knows what he's doing.   Grin

Thanks for the interest from the other side of the world.  Thanx!

I guess I can only post 1 picture at a time. Keeps timing out on me.

Here is a front picture of the motor plate with the new lower core support I made.

Here is a look at the diet on the "race car", along with another look at the motor plate sitting level in the car.

The new front struts are here along with a MagnaFuel 500 pump. I'm waiting on the installation hardware to get here to install them so I can set the car down and double check all measurements and angles before I weld the brackets in to bolt the plates to. Interesting process for sure for an electrican.

  guess how I feel.......

Oh yea, pistons are not here yet.  Whistling

Diamond pistons arrived Friday morning. Block was honed today and all machine work and balancing will be completed by Friday morning. Mike said that I could pick up everything Friday afternoon. A 1 week turn-around from the last part arriving and they were closed yesterday. I guess taking cakes, pies, and cookies to the guys every Thanksgiving and Christmas  has been a good thing.

Maybe I can get a few more pictures this week and many more in the weeks to come. We should be on schedule to T&T the last week in June if I can get all the small upgrades finished. Fuel system parts are here, struts are installed, tabs are welded in for the motor plates, going to re-wire a few things for "driver" comfort. New belts have to be installed, more carpet per class change, new intake to be worked on, gosh where does all the time and money go???

Now the $@&* starts. Put new 5/8" bolts in the struts and when they were tightened up one of the  struts "popped" and started leaking fluid. Back to be fixed, under warrenty; according to the manufacturer. No time table given on repair/replacement. Great.
Picked up all my engine components Friday. Everything was machined, balanced and pre-fit for clearences, cleaned, and rapped in plastic or the original boxes. First order of business was to paint the block "grudge black", before it started rusting. Q-tips and brake cleaner did not show any oil or dirt on the outside of the block!
Going to have a good block washing tomorrow night after fitting the rings. I put the pistons on the rods last night, they are ready for installation as soon as I get the rings on them. Gaps will be set @ .030 top ring and .025 second ring since we're spraying a little. Main bearing clearence is .0029-.003 and rods are .0027-.0028. Piston to cylinder clearence was honed to .0065.
I will have some more pictures up as soon as Brett gets down here to load them on my computer.

QA-1. Everything under the car was QA-1 when we bought it. This car was originally converted in 1998. I finally met the guy who got all the parts together and heard the story of this car.  Apparently it was pulled from a weed patch in '94 or '95, taken to a garage, stripped and painted, and sat on stands until '98. Since then it has spent the rest of it's life in a garage, on a trailer, or on the track.
The anti-roll bar is a Comp Eng piece. I didn't know about Team Z when it was purchased and I didn't want to start mixing parts now. If we ever build another car, it will be heavy into "Z" products. I have seen some of them and they are NICE.

The rear main seal came in today. Crank was cleaned and installed and checked at .0035 thrust. #1 piston was installed and the PTV clearence was checked. .139 on the intake and .127 on the exhaust with the 1.6 rockers. Piston is .010 in the hole to help keep the CR in check. With the heads cc'd @ 56 and the pistons with a -5cc for the valve reliefs, the math still puts the CR @ 14.2-1 with a .041 head gasket. That will make the tuning window for the N2O just a little bit tighter from what I have heard.

The camshaft was given to me by a local grudge racer. Lobe lift is .423 I / .418 E or .675/.669 with the 1.6 rockers. Tomorrow or Saturday I'll plot all the events to try to determine the duration. So far I have the Intake opening @ 51*BTDC and closing @ 95*ABDC installed straight up. With enough information maybe someone can tell me what the ICL should be and the lobe seperation is.

More later and maybe I'll get some pictures up this weekend.

Sounds like you are making good progress.

Sorry I don't know enough to help you with installing your camshaft and it's events.

I do enjoy reading about your race car, yessir!

Having a cramp in my leg as I try to get out of the car, my son's thought it was funny because I had a smile on my face. Told them it wasn't a smile! I've lost 35#'s since then. 2nd: The QA-1 that did not start leaking when I installed it. Thankful after a good day at the track. That's my driver/oldest son beside me. Just a little burn-out.
