What do the casting codes in the lifter valley on a 302 block mean?  Is there a list somewhere of what codes correspond to what?

On either bank it's got YYY and in the valley it says SB and 31.

It means absolutely nothing. Look at the casting number on the block by the starter.

331-347 Short Blocks 2099.00 and up
408-418-427 Short Blocks (F4 Roller Blocks Standard) 2399.99 and up
Dart Shorts 4199.00+
D.I.Y Shortblocks 1799.00

Make sure you get your information from the internet gurus that haven't built SHIT, they did sleep at Holiday Inn last night, and we have a few of those gurus right here on this forum. Smiley

Thanks.  Someone was probably bored at work that day.

I have no reason to suspect my block is anything but original but I was just curious about the numbers I noticed.  I'll check that number out though.
