My son got some used axles and I noticed some pitting, I seem to recall it would be a problem, but not sure where I read or heard that...curious if it will be a problem down the road or not?

On a 8.8? Yes, it could be a problem, the 8.8's don't have inner races, the inner race is basically the machined part on the axle shaft. How about some pictures? There are "axle saver" bearings out there that have an inner race, but that's kinda hokey.....

You may be able to get a machine shop to polish it for you. I remember a fubared a spindle for a fwd wheel bearing and the machine shop polished it up and had no probelms.

Typical wear and tear area of all 8.8 differential setups. If new/upgraded axles are not in the plans..... an offset axle "saver" bearing will work fine.

That doesn't look like anything to worry about, I'd hit it with some emery or crocus cloth by hand and polish it a little and run it.

That shouldn't be an issue.
Did you try a little scotchbrite?
