The following are a set of write-ups I did a few years ago of the troubleshooting or pinpoint procedures for the important EEC-IV failure codes you may encounter after you run a KOEO or KOER self test. They have been updated and new "visual aid" pictures have been added showing the sensors locations. They will continuously be updated with either more info and/or diagrams. By The Way.... more DTC's or failure codes will be added as time allows.

I have made this section a "read only" one, if you have specific questions or may require additional help trying to solve a problem, fell free to start a thread in the Joel 5.0's Electronic Engine Management board above this one.

I really want to recognize and thank the help of many members here and other forums, that have made the articles possible. Jon Daniels, Tom Moss, stangPlus2Birds (http://www.veryuseful.com/mustang/tech/engine/#EEC), AdderMk2 and others I apologize if I miss mentioning.  Hide

Anyway..... hope the articles help you guys solving those problems and if you need further assistance/help..... start a thread.

Hi guys I am thankful I found this site and yes I am a noob when it comes to this. Have been working on my own cars since b4 I could drive but until recently had no clue about all the technical aspects of it all. So here is my delimma I have a 1990 CV wich recently started acting like shit so thinkin I knew what I was doing I pulled the motor and dropped one  in out of an 89 gm wich fan like shit as well started doing research on casting numbers and turns out I have inavrtly put in an ho first two firing order 13 instead of 15 since i have been trying to research every part number and calibration num to see what I had.engine num is E7TE.cal.# e8ae-6eo61-ash?trying to figure out what is going on tryed to run koeo b4 swap and after and get 63-34-84-63-34-84-pause-16-33-46-33-41 wouldn't run koer. New engine koer gives 19-76-39-86-2 then pause please help as I said I am a noob to this technical stuff but help would be appreciated please

Suggest to check the DIY KOEO/KOER procedure at http://sbftech.com/index.php/topic,2471.0.html and check the video clips to correctly count the flashes for the DTCs. Based on the KOEO figures you wrote, the actual KOEO output was:

63-34-84-63-34-84-  10 (separator)  63-34-63-34 which mean TPS, EGR sensor and EGR solenoid circuit problems.

 Hey just wanted to drop a line and say thank you for everyone on here for taking the time to share all your knowledge and wisdom.Seems like there not many people out there who are willing to share there knowledge to help someone learn,to quote my grandpappy "knowledge not shared is useless" .as I said I am new to learning about eec systems,but about my issue after Joel and all the other info I've read on here I had a good tps,so changed that out,got a little better,after spending about a week after that studying different vacuum diagrams and got everything right,it gon even better,but would still run like a raped ape one day,then the next day felt like I was haulin a load of gravel,and I did some reading on here about the importance of grounds and I got to thinking I remembered when we yanked the old engine out we broke a little orange wire hooked to the back of the intaked and like a dumbass I'm ashamed to admit saying ah hell its just a ground(doh) so we twisted it together and went on dropping in the new one.So I went and got some weather tire connectors some heat shrink tubing and a little dab of soder she runs like a champ.I'm smart enough to learn from my mistakes,haven't took the kick panel off to see what eec I have I still don't quite understand how its running on the ho firing order on what I think is anon ho ecu?but it'll do for now I got bigger plans.mwwwaaa ah ah.sorry for long ass post just wanted let u all know I appreciate what you all are doing.
