One problem i see, as its the same problem i have had before. My meter has a fuse. 10A and 200ma (milli amp). When you put the meter in series as he is doing, the sudden amperage will pop the fuse, esp if there is too much draw. The trick is to keep the circuit complete the whole time. There needs to be another path without resistance that the current will take instead of going though the meter.

I have a spare battery terminal that i put on the + post (with the oem disconnected).
I then connect a wire with an alligator clip(s) to the 1st and 2nd terminal connector.
Then i connect a 2nd clip and wire to the oem connector to hold my multimeter lead on. The other lead gets clamped where the wires would for the + terminal connector.
Then i remove the 1st alligator clip/wire and there you have current draw.
Remember to swap the lead positions before and after doing this test. I forget which lead goes where now, but when i look at my meter later i will have to post that. Im sure a diagram would help explain what im saying better.

A good cost effective alternative tester that I use over the DMM to test for current draws is a 30A Fuse Buddy........

Plus it allows to catch the specific initial current draw peak when high current components turn on (ie. radiator fans).

Cool tool Joel, and air pressure gauge for electricity.
