Would you?

Hi,
I have a stock block 347 being built by Woody with AFR 205, Vic Jr , and 4150 750 carb. I the question I have is if the motor makes 450-475 to the crank would you put a small shot (100hp) on the motor? If I use a progressive controller would this make it better. I don't want to crack the block or hurt it. The reason I ask is I would like to be in the 10.80-10.90 times with a 1995 gt W/ auto & 4.10 gears. THanks

I don't see a problem with it. A 100 shot is very mild on a engine like that.
Progressive units are nice, but I doubt the necessity with such a small shot.

You might need some Titanium rods and a flow bench!

OK...so how big could I go with a progressive controller. Where's that thin line at??

Much higher and you will start approaching the limits of the block.

There isn't one. Every car is different.

That all depends on how well your combination works for you..... You could put a 200 shot on the thing and it could dead hook for you, or it could just spin the tires????
You never know till you try.....I would make sure the car and suspension are working for you, before I woud spend $300-500 on a nitrous control system.

I would not go over 100 shot, I was just wondering. Thank you for your thoughts

The good old stock block question ???
This is really a tough question to answer, and as I tell many one of the biggest unknowns is wht kind of life the block had before you got it ???
With running a stock block also an important thing to keep in mind is a good tune. The less you detonate the engine the longer it will last... Thanks, SJ

That motor in a stripped and gutted 95 with traction will run 10.50s on a 100 shot. I ran a 331 with 9:1 comp, AFR 185's, a 100 shot, 650 mighty demon, victor Jr, 373 gear, 4000 stall c-4 leaving off the transbrake with the Nitrous full on 10.74 @ 123 and a 1.45 60ft. So I am sure you can meet your goal with one of Woody's motors and 100shot and have good life.
