Yes, overlap does effect how the nitrous system works. Too much will make the system less effective. The back fire or popping is more likely the result of a incorrect tune.

Hey Guys,
Looks like a pretty good thread going on here. Just reading through all of this it looked pretty good. One thing I totally do disagree with is trying to tune the engine by the sound of bumping the system  thru the engine. This not an accurate or good thing to try and do.. Many of the systems and tunes can fool you just by sound. Not trying to start a pissing match or argue, just posting what I have learned over the last 30+ years of working with nitrous..

Bottle presssure, jet spreads, solenoid brands, and weather can all change how the system sounds just bumping it thru the engine...  Hope this helps.. SJ

Yes, overlap does effect how the nitrous system works. Too much will make the system less effective. The back fire or popping is more likely the result of a incorrect tune.

I was simply stating that even with increased overlap, any popping or backfire would be more likely from a botched tune (or equipment failure) than the overlap.
