I am trying to wire the neutral safety switch for a Quarter Stick, C-4 trans.  The directions say one wire goes to keyed starter switch  or push button switch, the other to starter motor relay.  I am assuming the directions are referring to the solenoid, but which terminal?

START solenoid activation voltage goes to the small post at the solenoid. The small red/blue single wire shown below.

I tried that terminal, still starts in gear.  The switch has two terminals, one i have to the start switch, and the other I have tried all post on solenoid and even to ground.  The directions even say to adjust the slide mechanism, which I have also tried.  The directions are for general applications  and have me confused.  The switch has two terminals listed as "normally open switch terminal" and "common switch terminal".  The "nost" is linked to the starter switch, and I have it connected on the activation side to the switch.  It is the "cst" side that is the problem.  I appreciate the help.  Could not run tonight at track as this switch is mandatory.

If it starts in gear, the problem is the neutral switch. JIC.... routing should be:

Ign Switch --> Neutral Switch --> Starter Solenoid

Neutral switch closed in P and N and open in R, D, 2, 1

Will take a fresh look tomorrow.  I hopefully see what you are saying and will route the wires: starter switch to neutral switch, then the second wire from neutral switch to starter signal wire, eliminating the current wire signal wire, which is bypassing the "nss" and allowing motor to start in all gears.  The ignition is MSD 6AL, one wire alternator, with main power wire to solenoid, solenoid to starter.  The signal wire is from the momentary starter switch, not keyed ignition.  Sometimes I take a slapping to wake up.

I used a relay to wire mine. Works flawless and the car seems to crank better, possibly due to the solenoid getting a better signal.

Could not wait, disconnected the current signal wire, (switch to starter), spliced in the second neutral safety switch wire and damn, it works the way it should. Thanks Joel for giving simple and direction instructions.  Made me re-think what i did based on their directions.

Too late for track, but will do it next week.  This is one of Woody's 408's, running 11.08, on first pass, using foot brake off line and shifting at 6K.  Still working out kinks in car before letting it go.
