i have a 2005 ford f-150 4.2l v-6 5 speed

its just a city driver truck for misc. BS. nothing special.

but this thing lugs bad from a start. its always been like that. acceleration sucks D. would dropping the cats off this vehicle and putting a smaller "flow through" style muffler on this truck cure any hard lugging it has and better acceleration...or is it hardly worth the effort?

let me know Smiley

My service trucks are the same thing, 1 is a 2004 and the outher is a 2002. They share the same motor that you have and are 5 speeds. I did a cat back on the 2004 and it made a little diff, I could see about a mile or two better in fuel milage and a little bit of a power increase. As far as the lug you are talking about I don't know if it would help but it can't hurt any thing the muffler on that thing is about 70 pounds by itself. That alone will help.

i know! the muffler is HUGE. on this thing. it starts at the rear of my door all the way to the start of my wheel. like maybe 3 feet or longer.

i'll probably start by removing the cats if they dont have o2's in them and then a new muffler thats smaller and maybe a flow through. i dont want it loud...but i also hate the piss poor acceleration it has from a stop.
