Yeah I have thought about that but only a certain part# box is allowed in the NHRA stuff and the one that is allowed doesn't have the slew rate function. The box that is allowed will let you ramp timing and we have been playing with it in one of our cars that runs NOS and its still a work in progress. I was thinking about getting the new power grid system since its legal and you can buy the slew rate component as a add on module so when its not allowed you can unplug and remove it. I was just looking for a cheap solution for now since my 7AL3 has worked flawless for me I would hate to get rid of it. I know im being cheap LOL.

Son wanted to change throttle rod length on Throttle Stop, tightened/shortened one turn. Now leaving at higher rpm's (??? 4800 or so). Timer is set for 6.700 seconds before full carb. opening. 1/8 mile e.t. is 7.2 sec.
We also have put on an Air Shifter and a Command Center 3 controller. Car leaves with part throttle, shifts to second at 7,000, shifts to third at 7,000, stop/carb go wide open then the 1/8th mile marker.
Last pass 10.95 @ 131 mph which slowed down slightly as an intake valve tip broke off at bottom of hard insert in titanium valve which is just above valve lock which still was holding valve train together.
These were used Ti. valves so NEW ones are on order, maybe get them CRN coated for $350 or so. Will pull engine out and check bearings, replace rings (#3 is oiling sparkplug slightly), timing chain, etc. Have 3+ years on engine:)

Yep it is! I forgot to mention I was foot braking and leaving at approximately 2,000 rpm's and shifting at 7,000 rpm manually, NO electronics used at all.
Son used the throttle stop in Bracket II and got to 4 cars and he ran 6.40's.
MidWest Raceway in Manhattan, Ks is 1/8th mile only. Years ago is ran 1/4 mile.

Hopefully I will get to see how well my 427 runs one of these days. I was hoping to make it to the playday at great bend on the 20th but I don't know if that is going to happen. I was just starting to get the tune close when the torque converter broke ( front ring snapped off). Oh well, one of these days my luck will change. Thanks again for the tranny advise.

Son uses a inline air cylinder throttle stop (uses Nitrogen), delay box (and since last weekend he uses the crossover too, PA tranny brake, air shifter using Co2.
Me, I use eye / hand coordination (somewhat inconsistent anymore which is age related) using foot brake (Wilwood disc's all around and 75 Mustang mc) trying to hold throttle at 2,000 rpm's and trying to shift manually at 7,000 rpm's.
It's a good thing I have years of experience shift a 5 speed manually with dog ring sliders instead of syncro's at 8,000 rpm's all the time. Son wants me to get another 5 speed along with several other people as they loved to watch me run my car, which I have to get the 347 together.

UPDATE!!
Son uses a inline air cylinder throttle stop and air shifter both using Co2 now. Refreshed the engine in april with cylinder hone (now only .0005 out of round on 2, rest are round), new dykes, napier, low pressure oil rings, timing chain only, oil pump, main bearings, rear/front seals and Victory CrN coated titanium valves.
Went to HPT this past weekend for last race for year running in S/Pro and S/St 10.90 index both days. Sat. went 2 or 3 rounds in each, sun. went 4 rounds in S/Pro went to final in S/St got ru broke out with a 10.875, .012 light to his .076 but his mph at 153 compared to our 130 and closing rate so son didn't lift but Should have as he had .064 to play with. We will get a Little Money anyway.
He then decided to do an all out pass but we may have fuel supply issues, no misses but didn't sound quite right but who knows:) I think over the winter I will get a new 230/250 gph to replace the Holley black 140 gph. I still have the BG 220 but don't know whether to trust it or not, might keep it for backup for mine.
I am attaching his time slip.

Nice pass! The mph does seem slow for the et might be a fuel problem.

That is what we were thinking. I just now found the spec sheet that came with the carb, the jets were 88's and we have 85 or 86's I think? I pulled plugs today and looked a tad lean.
I jetted down shortly after we got it as it seemed a bit fat, but that was probably the intermediate system which I have disabled by removing the intermediate air bleeds which made driving in the pits way less rich but didn't go back up in the main jet
Duh, dummy me
