My goal was mid 10's on a hot muggy day and slick track so that we could throttle stop it for S/St 10.90 class racing. Looks like we will have to throttle stop longer than I expected as all of the runs have been without full throttle as don't want to incur the wrath of NHRA Tech for going faster than 10.00 or 135 mph! This winter full cage and stuff for flat out racing
At Pink's All Out we ran right at 10.30's @??? mph and definitely HOT 100* and slick as track prep was non existent.
Last saturday August 7th temperature in the lower 90's, humidity got worse later into night. Track had good bite as we were dead hooking as far as I could tell as I couldn't see any slippage of slick right beside it outside of guardrail. Pulling front wheels 12 to 15" and carrying them out nearly two car lengths. South breeze / headwind 10 to 15 mph all night.
1st TT crapping a bit, changed plugs for 2nd TT
2nd TT ran 10.14@132
3rd TT ran 10.14@132
1st Rd in ET Brkt dialed 10.12 ran 10.09
1st Rd in Ks St Championship dialed 10.08 ran 10.06
2nd Rd ET dialed 10.05 ran 10.08
2nd Rd KSC dialed 10.06 ran 10.07
Don't remember any more but we went to semi-final in both classes (3 cars) red lighted in one and slept in the other one.
Kid was in a groove until communication break as no radio station or loudspeakers working. Worst light was .037 until waiting and he was getting tired and muggier weather as humidity was rising. We left track around 1:30 a.m. 81* and 81%, whew!

I took a stock Unlimited fiberglass hood, cut a hole in for air cleaner and glued/bonded ($75.00 a tube two part and you would need to beg, borrow or steal a caulking type gun) a longer than hood cowl and bondoed ground and filled, looks like it was made on it, if I may say so
We are using stock hinges with Unlimited lighter springs and I also cut off a section of the old stock steel hood pin and latch area and glued/bonded and bolted it on so we are using the stock original hood latch assembly and opening method.

I thought I recognized your engine build, then I saw your car picture. We talked at pinks all out in Topeka, I'm the guy that had the grey Falcon across the road from you. Glad to run into you on here,
as you are quite knowledgeable. Hope to chat again soon. Brian

We went to MidWest Raceway at Manhattan, Ks. 1/8 mile outlaw strip. Lousy weather yesterday but the we went full throttle on carb linkage, left at 4,000, shifted at 7,000, air good altimeter read 800 ft, weather station said 902 ft DA. Ran a 6.240 @ 113.64 mph! We liked it.

Last sat the 3rd we raced at HPT in Super/Pro.
When we set up the throttle stop we have the throttle stop rod lengthened enough for only stalling to 3,000 against the converter, we are leaving at 4600/4800 now most of the time. The first timer to lengthen the air cylinder is set at .600 (the front end is down on ground by then before the 60' clocks) and then wide open timer was set at 2.500 secs (1.900 secs difference in timers) on this last run which was a 10.82 at 138.98 mph with 2000' DA, 70* and a 15 mph tail wind and new Alston single adjustable rear shocks instead of the antique yellow CE 50/50 tight shocks!
We are trying to run 10.90's all the time to keep the sparkplugs cleaner because it is under full power most of the time instead of part throttle with the lengthened rod did running the 10.00's at 135 mph.

I have been having the same problem with my car running incosistent when I change the throttle linkage to get anything less than 3/4 throttle. We have to keep it above 6.00 in the class we run but sometimes in the summer when the track is greasy I would like to back it down more but it gets all over the map with the ET when we try to slow it down anymore. I was thinking about trying a restrictor plate since I can't run a throttle stop. You sound like you got yours figured out nice to hear sombody who's got it together LOL.

What about some kind of digital timing controller. I know a few people who use them on D/R cars, they change their timing ramp throughout the pass.
