i need help hooking up a tach in my truck. i know this is mainly a sbf tech website but maybe i can find some help. i have a 2000 ford ranger 2.5l without factory tach. i looked up the wiring diagram off of alldata which said that the tan/yellow wire is the tach output to the factory tach. so to test to see if that would work i probed the wire to connect the signal wire on the tach to it. nothing worked but the tach light. so i made sure i had good connection and still nothing. i know the tach works properly but its not working for me. any help would be appreciated.

What really turns a scientist on isn't knowledge, but ignorance.  A field that is pretty well figured out is the last thing a most scientists want to hear about.
