Title: Re: MY 78 Ford F100 Post by: robs85 on August 17, 2010, 07:17:57 am Hey buddy I have a f150.... same set up as you..... how does that 3.90 gear work on quarter and how much stall you have?
Title: Re: MY 78 Ford F100 Post by: dreday98781 on August 17, 2010, 07:39:01 am I never ran it in the 1/4, but the gears are good street gears. The converter was way to tight for my setup ( TCI ) 11'' breakaway. All that's changing as of now due to the fact of me putting this setup in a 91 mustang.
Title: Re: MY 78 Ford F100 Post by: robs85 on August 17, 2010, 09:47:47 am I running the voodoo hyd flat tap cam with a 3.55 gear....stall is a 2800... ran 8.0 at 81.... heads are pro comp ported.... any advice.?
Title: Re: MY 78 Ford F100 Post by: robs85 on August 17, 2010, 11:58:31 am And is that on all motor?
Title: Re: MY 78 Ford F100 Post by: dreday98781 on August 17, 2010, 12:32:07 pm What was your 60 ft time? What kind of intake, headers and carb do you have? Its hard for me to give advice being Jay pretty much design my topend. I have a custome hyd. Roller cam and jay did suggest I go with atleast a 4500 stall converter.
Title: Re: MY 78 Ford F100 Post by: robs85 on August 17, 2010, 12:56:41 pm Intake is vic Jr ported and same headers as yours 1 5/8.... my 60ft is 1.78
Title: Re: MY 78 Ford F100 Post by: dreday98781 on August 17, 2010, 05:23:36 pm I would suggest a higher stall converter, ( customs from Lenny) and 1 3/4 headers. That should lower your time signifacantly. Or continue to work on the tune, take notes on the different conditions to maximize what you already have.

Rob you may have 7.7 in your combo now, I would suggest playing with the tune, and possibly locking your distributor out. will do buddy.... you think 3000 to 3500 for the stall? And it will be little easy driving on streetTitle: Re: MY 78 Ford F100 Post by: dreday98781 on August 18, 2010, 10:07:46 am Having a converter that's optimal for a combo will make you think you have a whole different combo. I would leave the stall recommendation to the experts, but I will recommend you get a good trans cooler due to the excessive heat produced by a higher stall.
