I'm looking for a set of either Comp or Crane (aftermarket) stamped rockers; 1.6; long slot.  Comp wants $150+, I'd like to trade my rollers...

Gimme a yell!

What He Said

Hmmmmm its hard to tell from the pictures, but it looks like he has several valvetrain issues

but I don't think the rockers are the problem....   Wonder, Ponder

1. Roller Rockers are illegal in my class - MUST be stamped, OEM style.  Trust me, I tried at our 2010 rules meeting last Friday to get rollers approved.

2. The rockers sitting on the motor HAVE NOT been set.  They are just there to keep them from wandering off.  They ARE the rockers that were previously run on this motor while it was in an EMod.

3.  Specific cam is unknown, BUT it is safe to assume that since 1.6 rollers were used that 1.6 stamped are called for.

I welcome any specific comments regarding valvetrain issues.  That's why I post the pics - for your input...

 Please

I am a DipShit.

I jacked the pic from Summit without checking against the Comp Cams web page.  Here's what they are SUPPOSED to look like.  I appologize for any confusion.   Dammit!

I used those rockers on my 289 w/guide plates and FMP .520 lift sft and needed to lengthen the slots so they didn't bind on stud.  Maybe you can buy some aftermarket long slots?

Si Senior Bird-Hombre

Using stamped, long-slot, 1.6 ratio rockers is the plan.  Comp Cams PART #1231-16 High Energy Rocker Arms™ - Ford (289-351W, '68-'77) 3/8"" Stud, 1.6 Ratio" is what I'm looking for.  Rather than buying them new ($138 from Summit >> the people with the wrong pic<<) I'd like to find a good used set that MIGHT let me use my rollers as partial payment.

I'll give it a week or so and see what (if anything) develops here and/or elsewhere.  Then I'll shell-out the money...

       Thumb up

Got 'Em Comming.  Had a fellow dirt racer from NY see my ad on another forum.  He's putting a set of Crane, 1.6, long slots for 289 / 351W in the mail tonight.  It's been a while since Crane has 'em for sale, but what do you want for the cost of shipping?!?   Exactly!

Thanks for all the help guys!

Hello

What year heads are you running??

The first picture is whats called Rail rockers. use on stock heads up to mid '77(non-adjustable style)
Later use the stamped steel, No guide plate needed.

If you have the older heads & use the stamped steel you might need guide plates.(in our class no guide plates allowed)
Also the push rods are slightly different lengths.

Still need the pointer?

Paul
