I will do just that. I need to figure a budget & try to stay to it.I'm thinking of Freshening the shortblock up as well. I tell ya it's tempting to throw $$ around like a drunken sailor, but I kinda like dry clothes & a full belly

You are leaving a lot of power on the table. With a 58cc head your compression will be right around 11.1 depending on you deck height which is good for power. Do yourself a favor and get a custom cam, of course I would use Jay. You can easily make 380-400 at the tires with all the low end tq you can use and drive it anyware. If you can drive it, low 11's @ 120 should not be a problem.  Good Luck!

Actually, I've stepped back & tried to look at where I'm at & where I want to go with this build. I have read LOTS of old posts . The I appreciate the time, info,& effort members put into various forums. I was under the impression I could just change to what I thought was a superior cylinder head, make power & go. I under estimated  how important valve events affect a combination. Still learnin !

i also have been reading tons of old post as there is tons of info to soak in if u cruise around and just read..

second part...the last year i also have been lurking over here and then finally joined and its ..very true and i also had no clue about everything until i stepped back and actually started reading and listening to some rather than listening to others on different forumns and some magazines jack their jaws.....

sorry good post ...

and i hope to see that your build comes out better for you as i think you have a bunch more power to be released from that engine from just a few upgraded parts...

talk to u later steve, keep me posted on what happens here.

Thought I should share my story with you, I had a 331 with Roush 200's, TFS 2 cam and an edelbrock RPM intake, car made 306rwhp 349rwtq on a mustang dyno and 312rwhp 348rwtq on a dynojet with a "custom dyno tune", I took it to the track once it ran a 12.76@110. THEN I called Mr Jay Allen, I swaped on a set of Canfield 195's, TLSR cam" tight lash solid roller", Switched to a carb 780 from Prosystems, Victor Jr intake, none of these parts were ported all OOTB, went back to the dyno untuned and made 399rwhp 363rwtq on a dynojet and the drivabilty doubled, this new setup would cruise thru town at 1500rpm and blow the tires off at the flick of my right foot, it would Pull from 2500-7000 faster than I could shift in every gear. I never took the new setup to the track I sold the car like FOOL before i ever got it tuned out, the car had an easy 30+rwhp left in it.

I know none of this really has anything to do with you but I thought it might help you on your build.

Hey thanks for the input. I have a deal on the table to swap to a pair of older Canfield 192's . I've had to deal wth some warranty/supply(lack of) issues from RHS. Look's like that crap is finally solved. Once I have all the hard ware I'll start from shortblock up. I want to keep it simple & I'd like to stay efi I think.
